Thought Filtering

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
— Aristotle
Imagine a vacant land plot in your neighborhood, which is unguarded and open from all sides. The owner has left this plot this way. What will happen? You will see that people will start using it for them. Some will park their vehicles there; some will throw their rubbish there while some will throw their scrap items in that plot like garbage. This becomes a dumping yard for everyone, living around.
Your mind is also like this only. You come in contact with so many people in your life daily. Each of them has his own thoughts to dump somewhere — negative and positive both. If you don’t guard your mind, then all these thoughts are deposited into your mind and are processed there.
You will see that within a few months, your mind becomes full of all these rubbish thoughts ready to be impregnated to your character, talk, thinking, and action.
Think it over, what has already been caused to happen in our minds since childhood? Most of us have treated our minds like a dumping yard and voluntarily offered this lush garden to people for dumping their rubbish thoughts (seeds of failure) in it, by participating in general discussions, gossips and loose talks. These seeds have become fully grown-up trees now.
It takes but one positive thought when given a chance to survive and
thrive to overpower an entire army of negative thoughts.
– Robert H. Schuller
Many people have sown this crop of disempowering beliefs, unknowingly, in their minds. Surprisingly, they are unaware of this suicidal act and still doing it daily in their life. They not only do this with their minds but also with the minds of everybody else they know.
This has become a social practice nowadays. In marriage parties, birthday parties and weekend bashes people gather to chat with each other, to refresh them, as they call, this suicidal act.
Your thoughts are your masters, and they rule you. A good thought helps you while a bad thought harms you. The thought alone is eternal, and it is the master of your fate. Never play with these thoughts.
You must have heard of people dying of shock. What is it? A powerful thought stopping the work of the brain. A man who thought he had swallowed a tack had horrible symptoms, including a local swelling in his throat, until it was discovered that he was mistaken. The basis of the entire profession of medicine is faith in the doctor, his drugs, and his methods.
The character of the mind can be changed by habitually controlling the thought. We can stop our minds from wandering aimlessly. Our real self can control our thoughts to concentrate on whatever we desire.
The Indian Yoga system can be very successfully used for doing this. Meditation and concentration are those powerful methods to control the thought from wandering at random. By concentrating our thoughts on our goals in the mind’s eye and visualizing as if already realized can be very helpful to us for achieving our goals faster.
Sit in silence with some aspiration and realize its fulfillment with all intensity of your visualization ability. See yourself doing the work you love, successfully, driving the car of your dreams on the road; living in the house of your dreams can actually materialize your dreams. If we can learn to banish unwanted thoughts, then we can concentrate on only those thoughts which we want. We can banish thoughts of fear and worry from our mind, and our significant problems will be solved.
Amazing Powers of your Subconscious Mind

Program your mind for your success and then it will trounce the whole world to make you successful. The people who believe in the power of their mind cannot be defeated by any obstacle.
–Mahesh Jethmalani.
Our conscious mind is the master that gives commands to the subconscious mind, which is like a genie with unlimited powers. It is like a universal, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent power. It is connected with the universal mind or infinite intelligence wirelessly. You can achieve anything through it. It is servile if you tame it and train it, but otherwise, it is a terrible master. It runs your life according to programs fed into it.
Our subconscious mind is like a huge memory bank and stores all our memories. As calculated by scientists (approx.) it has a huge capacity (around 1000 terabytes, 1 terabyte=1000 GB) and it permanently stores everything that ever happens to you. The conscious mind can only process 40 bits of info/sec.
In his book ‘The Biology of Belief’, Dr. Bruce Lipton, writes that our subconscious mind is half a million times faster than our conscious mind. By the time you reach the age of 21, you’ve already permanently stored more than one hundred times the contents of the entire Encyclopedia Britannica in your subconscious mind.
Under hypnosis, people can often recall, with perfect clarity, even 50 years old events.
The function of your subconscious mind is to store and retrieve data. Its job is to ensure that you respond precisely to the way you are programmed. Your subconscious mind makes everything you say and do match a pattern consistent with your self-concept, your stored beliefs. That’s why repeating positive affirmations is so effective — you can reprogram your thought patterns by slipping in positive and success-oriented thoughts by auto-suggestion.
Reading inspirational quotes is very impressive for people committed to positive thinking. When you focus your thoughts on uplifting ideas, your subconscious begins to implement the new positive pattern in belief banks, which further help you in making decisions in a changing environment. Otherwise also, if you don’t keep updating your belief bank, then your subconscious will not allow you to take decisions from a new perspective.
Your subconscious mind is subjective. It does not think or reason independently; it merely obeys the commands it receives from your conscious mind. Just as your conscious mind can be thought of as the gardener, planting seeds, your subconscious mind can be thought of as the garden, or fertile soil, in which the seeds germinate and grow. Your conscious mind commands and subconscious mind obeys. You will get a response or result from your subconscious mind according to the nature of thought you hold in your conscious mind.
Your subconscious mind is an unquestioning servant that works 24×7 to make your behavior consistent with your emotionalized thoughts, hopes, and desires. Your subconscious mind has what is called a homeostatic impulse. It keeps your body temperature at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, just as it keeps you breathing regularly and keeps your heart beating at a certain rate. Through your autonomic nervous system, it maintains a balance among the various chemicals in your billions of cells so that your entire physical machine functions well all the time.
Your subconscious mind also practices homeostasis in your mental realm, by keeping you thinking in a manner consistent with what you have done and said in the past.
All your etiquettes of thinking and acting are stored in your subconscious mind. It memorizes all your timings: when do you get up or sleep? When do you take your breakfast, lunch, and dinner? It will remind you of those activities at that time. It has memorized all your comfort zones, and it works to keep you in them until you opt-out.
Your subconscious mind seeks to preserve your life and restore your health at all costs. It causes you to love your children, which is also an instinctive desire to preserve your life. If you eat some poisonous food knowingly or unknowingly then it causes you to regurgitate it.
Your subconscious mind causes you to feel emotionally and physically uncomfortable whenever you attempt to do anything new or different or to change any of your established patterns of behavior, not taught to it earlier.
